Last week Saturday Eric, I, and the kids met up with Eric's parents at the Drenthe Chicken BBQ "Sauce" (as Grant would say). It was a great night of food, fellowship, and fun activities!
My mom and I took in some of the sights of Holland with the kids this week before she and I return to work. We went to Dutch Village, as one of my student's gave me some passes there as a gift, and Grant enjoyed the activities.
We also ventured downtown for him to play in the water fountain. We had to improvise a bit, though, as I didn't prepare for this activity by having either a bathing suit or another change of undies along. So, G donned an old pair of shorts I just happened to have in my bag and went commando in the fountain.
Here are just a few pics of my mobile munchkin...Always on the move!!
She makes her way through all the rooms in the house, is starting to open drawers, and is also managing to stand by herself for a few seconds, too. While I do love watching her face as she explores her newfound freedom, I am not so easily handling the realization that my baby is not a baby anymore.
Last but not least.....here a few "Grant-isms" that you might get a chuckle out of -
1) Grant and I read a lot of books together, and the other day, as he was sitting by me on the couch, he reached across me to grab another book. He brushed against my boob and something didn't quite seem right, so he proceeded to push on my boob and say "Mom...what is in there???" All I could do was laugh as he asked it again with a very serious look on his face. Believe me son, not much is in there. I felt so violated! :)
2) When we were visiting my folks out at the beach, Grant had gone over to my friend Marcy's parents' trailer next door. He had just finished a marathon snacking session, and I had told him no more food until dinner. Well, Marcy wasn't aware of this, and had hauled out some chocolate bars to eat. When Grant was asked if he wanted one, he had to think about it a little bit, since mommy had just told him nothing more until dinner. Of course, his desire for food won over and he accepted the offer, but not before telling Marcy - "Aunt Marcy, let's just not tell my mom about this, okay." Little stinker!
3) I had the noon news on the other day, and I went into the bedroom to gather some laundry. A few minutes later, Grant came in and said "Mommy, there are going to be thunderstorms tomorrow. It's going to rain and dribble a little bit." The weather must have been on. :)
4) Some of the neighborhood kids came over to play about a week ago. They are all older than G, but bless their hearts, are so good about playing with him. They had come into the house and were playing blocks. One of them asked G what he wanted to make. Grant proceeded to say "Let's make some guns." Nice, I thought. My son's mind is polluted. "Where did you learn about guns, Grant?" I asked. He promptly replied - "Sunday School." Hmmmm....is there an updated version to David and Goliath that I'm not aware of??? What happened to a sling and some stones???

Ha! That kid is hillarious! And little Brookey, so not a baby anymore. May I suggest making another?:-)
P.S. I can't beleive you got on that swing. Everytime we drive through Holland I see that thing, I think "Oh, heck no!"
