Tub Time, Car Seat Head, and Sleeping

Yes, I know - random title. Not much going on this past week, so I just have a few pictures to share. As you may have seen from previous posts, our little Brooke has a TON of hair, and needless to say, it's not always the easiest to tame! Here's the best picture I could get of her mullet (it's hard to get a picture when all a six week old wants to do is move her head when she's on her tummy!). She belongs at an 80's rock concert!

Gotta love this picture - this is what I term "car seat head." You know how people get "hat head" when they wear hats for an extended period of time. Well...our kid gets car seat head after sitting in her car seat because of the sheer amount of hair she's got and the awkward length it's at right now. I've tried to stick a barrette in it, but the barrette just seems to flip up with the rest of the hair. If I want it to lay down I have to wet it. I am not a cosmetologist, so any advice on cute hairdos for untameable, fine hair would be greatly appreciated!

Brooke still enjoys taking baths, and I think Grant enjoyed being big brother and helping me out a little bit. His "help," however, can sometimes be more work than assistance! I will say that the past week or so, he's gotten a lot better in the "sharing mommy and daddy" department. The first few weeks of having Brooke around were quite an adjustment for him, and his "jealousy" manifested itself in a louder than usual and mouthy child. We were sooo not used to this side of him, as he's always been SUCH a great kid. I think he's now realized that Brooke is here to stay and mommy and daddy aren't trying to short-change him and we don't love him any less, it's just that we've got to care for two kids now and our attention isn't all on him. He seems to be more back to his old, fun-loving self.

Big news of the week - Brooke slept through the night last night!! 10:30 until 6:00!! I know, I know - don't get your hopes up for tonight. However, the past week and a half or so, she's been consistently going down between 10:30 and 11:00 and has been up between 4:00 and 5:00 and then down again until 8:00. So.....even if tonight she doesn't pull an all-nighter (sleeping, that is!) I am still okay with where she's at right now. Grant was sleeping through the night at 6 weeks, so I can't help but wish for the same for my dear daughter! Daytime naps are a whole different story. The past few days she's been such a cat napper, sleeping for roughly 30-45 minutes and then waking up wanting to eat. I CANNOT get anything done and it drives me nuts. Grant was the EXACT same way. I guess I'm not meant to have a clean house! Oh well - overall, she is a GREAT baby and if daytime napping is the only dilemma I struggle with, I consider myself lucky. (FYI - she's been napping now for about 45 minutes, enough time for me to get my blog updated - I expect she will wake up shortly!).

A hairdo that seemed to work for many kids in the Grotenhuis family was the ever popular & so stylish "bowl cut". I can see that look working very well with the hair that little Brookey already has! :)

Time to go to "Aberdeen's" in downtown Grand Haven. They have the BEST selection of bows that, as you know from reading our blog, really stay in without use of tape of any kind.
And, way to go Brooke! Sleeping through the night...maybe that's when you should do your cleaning. Ha!
