...the marriage of a special couple. My cousin Michael and his wife Melissa were married a few weeks ago and Grant had the privilege of being a ring bearer in their wedding. It was a beautiful event, despite the fact that my son's face connected with bike handlebars and pavement a mere two days prior to show time. Bless Michael and Melissa's heart for taking it all in stride. Grant still performed his part well, although the marks on his face will be forever remembered in the wedding pictures. Michael and Melissa - your wedding was a beautiful beginning to a wonderful marriage.
...the changing of the leaves. The tree in our front yard is a prime example of God's handiwork. I have loved looking outside my kitchen window over the past few weeks and watch fall unfold before my eyes. I've also enjoyed the beauty of watching children play in the leaves. There's just something about it that seems so innocent to me (until of course, one child lands on another and things erupt into a tearful mess).
...enjoying the company of friends on a gorgeous fall evening. My co-worker and his wife invited us to a get-together last weekend and the weather couldn't have been better. Grant loved riding his bike around the driveway and playing with the other kids who were there. Brooke loved running around in the leaves. We enjoyed yummy food (yay for Moomers ice cream!), good conversation, a pumpkin hunt, and a "haunted path" geared towards 3-6 year olds.
...babysitting an infant. We had the privilege of watching my friend Marcy's daughter Cambry last Sunday. She's so stinkin' cute! However, through this experience, I've realized that my children (Brooke especially) are not prepared to have another baby in this house anytime soon. Grant seemed to feel the need to constantly put his face within inches of Cambry's and "talk" to her. Brooke LOVES babies, and thus, any chance she got, she took advantage of touching her, petting her, wanting to hold her, and trying to launch her into space from the bouncy seat. Cambry - we hope your visit did not scar you for life and you have a desire to return to our house again!
...having some "quiet" time to organize your daughter's closet.......until your son comes running into the room to disturb the peace to tell you that your daughter has just unloaded almost all of the 200 and some tissues in the Kleenex box onto the kitchen floor. I knew the beauty of that quiet was too good to be true!
