Let's Get This Summer Started!

The weather this week has been so fabulous for spending time outside. We've definitely taken advantage of it. I picked up a "new" (to us) kiddie pool at a garage sale a few weeks ago, so that has been a hit (although G is getting WAY too big for it). I like it, because it's one of those hard sided Little Tikes pools with a built in slide, and all we have to do when we're done is pull the plug (rather than emptying it bucket by bucket because the sides would collapse otherwise). We've also spent lots of time in the sand box, riding bike, on the basketball court, and hitting balls with the big plastic baseball bat. Grant does a really good job hitting balls that I pitch to him (and that plastic ball can sting - believe me, he's hit me a number of times!). A few weeks ago he mastered riding his bike without training wheels, however, today he finally nailed down getting on his bike and starting on his own, without us needing to give him a push to get going. That will make for nicer bike rides! We went for a ride with my parents last week, and at every intersection and any time we had to cross a street, my poor dad had to give him a boost to get him going again.
The kiddos with the dollar store version of Super Soakers. We love these things!

Hop scotch anyone? (watch below)

A few weeks ago we celebrated Brielle's 1st birthday at Chad's parents' house. It just seems like yesterday Brooke and I made the trip out to PA with my parents to welcome her to the family (and try every trick in the book to get her to sleep for more than a few minutes at a time!). Brielle - you definitely have kept your mommy and daddy on their toes this past year, but you are oh so loved by us all! Grant was such a "helper" (not quite) at the party because he had to be directly involved in the present opening process.

I think Brielle is the first one year old I've ever seen not want to eat her cake! It was so funny!
Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart

This picture really made me realize how old my little girl is getting!

This coming holiday weekend is a busy one, as my cousin Jennifer gets married and Grant is in the wedding. So, rehearsal dinner Friday night, wedding Saturday. Here's for hoping that all goes well and he does a good job walking down the aisle! I'm sure I'll have plenty of pictures to post afterwards! B-day party for our nephews on Sunday afternoon. Memorial Day morning will be spent in Hamilton, as Eric is pulling a wagon of kids for one of his elementary schools. This is a change of pace from the past few years, where we've gone to the parade in Zeeland. We also plan to spend time with our families.

I cannot believe that we only have one week of school left! Wow!!!!! Where has the time gone? When school begins next year I will be starting my 10th year. One third of the way to retirement already - no way - doesn't seem possible! :) Love what I do too much, though, to think about that yet!

Cute update there Kimbo! Miss you guys already! (Can I borrow your children to entertain Brielle...she seems to be bored with me and we've only been home a day!)
